Vitz

History

Since its launch in 1999, the Toyota Vitz was regarded by many as the ideal compact car and people had high expectations from this car since it was to replace the Toyota Starlet. Toyota managed to surpass everyone’s expectations by developing a car that is both more comfortable and powerful than its predecessor.

This was backed by the several awards given to it. In 2000, the Toyota Yaris, which is the European version of the Toyota Vitz, was awarded the European car of the year. It was also awarded the most brilliant and efficient 1.0 liter engine money can buy with 68hp.

In 2005, a new model was developed to replace the old version of the Vitz that is one of the most common cars in Malta. Although having a totally different car design, the Vitz kept surpassing many of its competitors.

Updates are taking place continuously but the engine remained nearly the same as that launched in 2005. This is due to the fact that its engine won the best engine of the year for the fourth year in a row.

Safety

Being a small car, many are concerned about its safety. In order to keep up with today’s standards, Toyota imposes several tough tests to make sure that their cars are safe and road worthy. This is reflected in the euro NCAP as it was given a 5 star rating, sharing the same score with bigger cars and SUVs.
